Yuoo's Diary - January 2005

Saturday, January 22, 2005 - Hello again. I haven't written in a while, but I have a good excuse. Last year, I bought the domain name www.yuoofox.com. Yay! All this time, I've slowly been transferring things from my old website to this one. I'm still not finished yet, but it will get there. This semester, Yuoo is taking two classes: Logos Theory and Basignosis. Logos Theory is a study of languages, but not necessarily ones that people speak with. In this case, a "language" includes any set of ideas, whether it be spoken language, mathematics, or even music. Basignosis is the study of collecting and understanding large amounts of knowledge. Normally, students are supposed to take more than two classes, but Yuoo must be particularly careful not to overload himself. Last year, he had two classes and one job. He did well in one class but poorly in the other.

Sunday, January 23, 2005 - It was very chilly this morning, -1'C. This might not seem very cold to you, but this is unusual for a town as far south as Loblolly. Also, keep in mind that Yuoo is a desert fox and is thus suited for warm weather. So when Yuoo goes to Mortar Abbey this morning, he'll be wearing the parka his father gave him, as well as a pair of extra large ear-warmers :-).

Abbot Rains has changed a lot over the past year. Originally, I remeber Yuoo describing him as a big, lovable, hairy badger. Well, he's still lovable and hairy (in fact, it seems he's more so), but thanks to some good dieting, he's not quite as big, waist-wise that is. Yuoo told me that he signed up for early morning slots in this year's week of prayer at Mortar Abbey. This makes me a little concerned for him because he was having some stomach problems the same time last year, but I think things will be okay.

Saturday, January 29, 2005 - The month of January is nearly over. The stores are full of valentine candy, and Yuoo's homework assignments are rolling in one by one. Mortar Abbey's vigil of prayer is nearly to a close. Yuoo arrived at the abbey belltower each day before sunrise to meditate. Sometimes Yuoo was by himself, and sometimes another creature was too, but in either case Aslan was always there to guide him. It was an enjoyable experience, but it was also taxing. Yuoo was very tired most afternoons, and he didn't do very well on the homework assignments due that week. The vigil is still in progress today and will go into tomorrow night, but Yuoo told me he needs a break, and I don't blame him.

Two other significant things happened last week. First, received word from his friend, Mander the Squirrel. Mander is a chef who lives far to the north. She told Yuoo that she had just gotten home from being in the hospital for a week, after having her gall-bladder removed. :-( Yuoo and I are glad that she's okay. Today, Yuoo will mail a Peanuts get-well-soon card to Mander. Squirrels love peanuts. :-)

Also, Yuoo received counseling last week. A few years ago, Yuoo went through some very difficult times, in which he sought the help of a mind-healer. Yuoo is doing a lot better now, but he still has issues he'd like to talk about. I kind of feel sorry for him. It's confusing enough for me, an adult who has a talking fox as an imaginary friend, but it has to be even more confusing for Yuoo, knowing that he *is* the imaginary friend. :-P
