Yuoo's Diary - April 2005

Monday, April 11, 2005 - Well, it's April now. I wanted to write an April Fool's Day diary entry saying that Yuoo is really a 50-meter-tall kangaroo with green polka-dotted fur and two pairs of dragonfly wings. However, I did not have the time, which is just as well because someone might take the description seriously and start sending me fanart of that nature. I'm sure Yuoo would appreciate the attention, but somehow I think he would find that dissapointing. ;-)

Yuoo has been very busy this past few weeks. As I mentioned previously, Yuoo is taking two classes this semester. He is doing well in Logos Theory, but he isn't doing quite so well in Basignosis, so he's been studying extra hard to complete the homework and to prepare himself for the exam. Last year, Yuoo participated in something called 30 Hour Famine. Last year, the fasting went very well, so Yuoo tried to do it again this year. He's been trying to observe the low-carbohydrate diet lately, so he decided it would be best if he had some pasta the night before his fasting. The problem is, since he hasn't eaten pasta in quite a while, he ate way, way, way too much! The next day, he ate breakfast (leftover pasta), and he began his fasting at noon that day. However, when evening came, Yuoo started to feel bad. By bad, I mean dizzy, shakey, anxious, and just plain lousy. Because of this, he decided to drop out. He was hesitant to do this at first because he wanted to "tough it out," but eventually he came to the conclusion that this wouldn't be for the best, neither for Aslan nor himself. After this, Yuoo promptly went home and started eating the sort of things that had been restricted from his diet. He had just skipped two meals that day, and he was stressed out, so I guess you can say he had a bit of a breakdown. Well, things are better. He's on his diet again, although he's allowing himself more indulgences than before.

Thursday, April 21, 2005 - School is drawing to a close for Yuoo, for this semester at least. He has one test this upcoming Monday and another this Thursday.

Also, his grandmother is ill. The healers say that she has less than two weeks to live. Yuoo's father is going to see her. Strange, this seems like a topic that I would write more on, but I can't think of much else to say right now.

[later that day]

Oh, what a scary day. Today, on his trip home, Yuoo almost collided with a bus while riding his bicycle! He was crossing the street (with a walk signal and everything), and he thought the bus was going to go straight, but it made a right turn, so Yuoo had to pull back quickly to keep from bumping into it. While he was sitting there, scared, someone yelled from their car, "Go!" I'm sorry to make you miss your light, mister, but Yuoo was busy making a subconscience inventory of his skeletal system and internal organs at the moment. Some people are in too much of a rush. Yuoo went home feeling scared, embarassed, and exhausted. (Of course, the exhausted part might be due to the fact that he's been up since 2:00AM this morning because of homework.)

Saturday, April 23, 2005 - Yesterday, Yuoo was a do-it-yourself handy-fox! :-) He rebuilt the sliding keyboard tray that was missing from his computer desk. About a year ago, the heavy wooden keyboard tray fell off-- and landed on his footpaw! Ouch!

Well, he bought a new sliding-tray kit which consisted of the metal sliders and brackets. Yesterday, he measured the bottom of the desk to find the dimensions of the piece of wood he'd need. At a hardware store, he bought a piece of wood of the appropriate width and thickness, and a nice beaver working there was kind enough to nibble it down to the proper length. Yuoo took the board home to install it. First he sanded it, then he drilled the holes with his cordless drill, then he put the screws in. Yuoo had to drive some of the screws into the wood by paw, without the aid of guide-holes, because the space was too narrow for the electric drill to fit. When it was all finished, he took a shower to get all the sawdust out of his fur (from the sanding). Beautiful! Now he can type in style! :-)

Sunday, April 24, 2005 - Today at Mortar Abbey, they held a Baccalaureate service. This is a special time to celebrate the students who are leaving. It was very nice. Several creatures gave emotional farewell speeches, and one creature even composed a song to play for everybeast. Afterward, Yuoo and his friends ate together. Most of the food there was off-limits for Yuoo's diet, (he's trying to lose some weight) but he had some fruit, some carrots, and some cheese. On top of that, the weather is marvelous today! It's a little chilly, but there isn't a cloud in the sky. Yuoo has his windows open inside his house right now. However, things will get tough as he gets ready for his final.

Wednesday, April 27, 2005 - Today, Yuoo has been studying for the Basignosis exam he has tomorrow. He'll be so glad to get that one out of the way! That evening, he will meet with the goodbeasts of Mortar Abbey for an end-of-finals celebrations, where they will sit and watch Star Wars, Episodes I, II, IV, V, and VI all in one evening! (Episode III is due to come out this summer.)

In a previous diary entry, I told you about Yuoo's family, including each person's species. Since then, my Dad has been reading about Yuoo and his adventures, and recently my Dad told me he would much rather be a hawk in these stories. So, from this day forth, Yuoo's father shall be... **POOF** ...a Red-Tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis). Congratulations, Dad! :-)
